Lynda Carter reveals why she held on to the iconic ‘Wonder Woman’ bracelets
Lynda Carter still has some of Wonder Woman’s powers.
The groundbreaking actress, who played the iconic female superhero in the 1970s, held onto a very important piece of TV history.
This week, she revealed why she held onto the original “Wonder Woman” bullet-blocking bracelets she adorned while kicking ass — and taking names — portraying the titular DC Universe heroine between 1975 and 1979.
“For many years, Wonder Woman fans have asked: Do you still have the bracelets?” Carter wrote in an Instagram caption accompanying her wearing one of the iconic bracelets.
“I think there’s a certain association between a superhero and her costume or accessories that makes the bracelets so appealing.”
“Here’s the secret, though: it was never about the bracelets,” the former pageant queen continued. “The power of Wonder Woman lies within every woman and girl who dares to be bold and brave in this world.”
“That said ... the answer is yes. I do have the bracelets, and wearing them still makes me feel like a total badass!”
“Wonder Woman” ran on ABC for one season and then moved to CBS for its remaining two seasons.
The series, which is still aired on nostalgia basic cable channels, received two Primetime Emmy Award nominations, one in 1976 and the other in 1978.
The character was resurrected in the 2017 “Wonder Woman” film, starring Gal Gadot.
A sequel, “Wonder Woman 1984,” is currently scheduled for release in October 2020 after being delayed due to the COVID-19 crisis.
After battling alcoholism, Carter bounced back to her acting career, currently portraying U.S. President Olivia Marsdin in The CW’s “Supergirl.”
Since 2009, she’s released five studio albums and performs live concerts around the country.
