Lynnwood couple thinks they won $360 in lottery – turns out to be $360,000

Three zeros make a pretty big difference.

A Lynnwood couple that purchased a winning “Hit 5″ ticket that they thought was only worth $360 turned out to be worth $360,000.

After buying the ticket at the Lynnwood Fred Meyer, the husband went to check if they had won anything.

He thought he only won $360, so he tried to collect his prize at the store.

The Fred Meyer employee told him his prize was too large to cash there and he would have to go to the lottery office in person to claim it.

The man asked the employee why, as the store limit for cashing tickets was $600.

The employee told the man the prize was not $360, but $360,000.

Shocked, the employee asked the man if he needed a chair.

The man reportedly said, “No, I need to go cash this!” and ran out the door.

After claiming their prize, the first thing the couple did was write a $10,000 check for their son and daughter-in-law, as they are expecting their first child, the couple’s first grandchild.

The rest of their winnings are going into their retirement fund.
