LYNX by CATS sets new record for affordable rideshare service in East Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — LYNX, which is an added addition to the Capital Area Transit System, is a ride share service that is provided to the residents of Baker. The micro transportation service set a new record for providing 50,000 rides in only a year, following the service’s one year anniversary.

The on-demand service officially launched in June 2022, and became a key provider in offering Baker residents rides to and from many destinations, including hospitals, grocery stores, and the airport.

The rideshare service is a helping hand for the CATS Transit System, with being affordable and more accessible by being able to access the rides from their homes rather than bus stops.

The service costs as little as $1.75, with an additional $0.35 if adding an extra passenger. Each LYNX car is wheelchair and disability accessible. Seniors over the age of 65 only have to pay $0.35 for rides.

College and high schools can also ride for free with a valid student ID. Their primary focus is for those with little to no transportation, those with disabilities, and students to be able to get to and from destinations for little to no cost and ease.
