Lyrebird Surprises Zookeeper by Imitating Crying Baby

Lyrebirds have the ability to replicate a variety of sounds, and one at Taronga Zoo Sydney surprised a keeper recently by imitating a baby’s cry.

Video released by the Australian zoo shows the bird emitting the uncanny sound.

“You’re not hearing things,” said the zoo in a Facebook post, “our resident lyrebird Echo has the AMAZING ability to replicate a variety of calls – including a baby’s cry! It’s this ability that makes the lyrebird an expert communicator – and makes US do a double-take.” Credit: Taronga Zoo Sydney via Storyful
