“The first time I confronted my son, Dustin, about having an eating disorder, I said, ‘are you doing this on a regular basis?’ and he blew up,” says Melissa. Dustin, 33, is a professional cook who admits he binges constantly and purges dozens of times a day. He says he’s been living with bulimia since he was 17 and that he tries to keep his eating disorder a secret, but Melissa, who is a nurse, says she sees him wasting away. “I’m at the end of my rope,” says Melissa.
