California’s Most Destructive Wildfire Kills Dozens

The death toll in a devastating Northern California wildfire that wiped out an entire town has risen to 23, while at least 110 people remain missing, authorities said late Saturday. Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea said efforts are underway to identify the deceased by DNA as a coroner’s team searches for additional victims in scorched areas. Meanwhile in Southern California, two separate wildfires put more than 200,000 people under mandatory evacuation orders in Ventura and Los Angeles counties.
