Don McGahn Officially Leaves White House Counsel Role

Don McGahn officially left his post as White House counsel on Wednesday, The New York Times reports, after he and President Trump had a “farewell chat.” Trump announced in an August tweet, reportedly to McGahn’s surprise, that McGahn would depart the White House after Brett Kavanaugh was confirmed to the Supreme Court. During his 21 months as counsel, McGahn reportedly stopped the president from firing special counsel Robert Mueller and forcing Attorney General Jeff Sessions to reverse his oversight recusal of the Russia probe.
