New Thornton Park tower initially wants to offer some 'hotel apartments'

A $100 million, 364-unit luxury apartment tower now under construction in downtown Orlando initially may have a dual purpose, with about a third of its units offered as short-term rentals like hotel rooms. Co-developers — Houston-based Camden Property Trust (NYSE: CPT) and McLean, Virginia-based Jefferson Apartment Group — seek to offer some "hotel apartments" in its 12-story 520 complex on the southwest corner of East Church Street and South Eola Drive, according to city of Orlando documents. Orlando City Council are expected to vote on the agenda item Dec. 9.
