Bipartisan Senators Group is Close to an Infrastructure Deal

Notable economic events this week include: on Monday, the Census Bureau reports new single-family home sales for June; on Tuesday, the Conference Board releases its Consumer Confidence Index for July, and S&P CoreLogic releases its Case-Shiller National Home Price Index for May; on Wednesday, the Federal Open Market Committee announces its monetary-policy decision; and on Thursday, the Bureau of Economic Analysis publishes its first official estimate of second-quarter U.S. gross domestic product. Sen. Rob Portman (R., Ohio), the lead Republican negotiator, told ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday that negotiators were “about 90% of the way there,” but still disagreed on how much money to direct to public transit.
