Why India wants to tie up with other countries to build disaster-resilient infrastructure

India hopes to lead the world in developing natural disaster-proof infrastructure. On Sept. 23, on the sidelines of the UN climate summit, prime minister Narendra Modi announced that the country is building a coalition for disaster resilient infrastructure, and invited other nations to join the initiative. India is among the five countries that suffer the highest losses due to natural disasters—over $80 billion in the last 20 years.
