Judge: Paul Manafort Must Wear Prison Jumpsuit at Court Appearances

A judge on Wednesday denied Paul Manafort’s motion to wear a suit at his upcoming court appearances. U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis III, who presided over Manafort’s bank and tax-fraud trial, issued an order stating that the “defendant should be treated no differently from other defendants who are in custody post-conviction.” Manafort will now have to wear his dark green, prison-issued jumpsuit in court. On Tuesday, Manafort’s attorneys filed a motion with the District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, requesting that the embattled former campaign manager be allowed to wear a suit at his Thursday hearing and at all subsequent court appearances.
