Silver vehicles dwindling in popularity, and other findings from Axalta's annual automotive color report

Silver vehicles are dropping in popularity around the world, as white reigned supreme and gray gained market share, Philadelphia-based Axalta reported in its 2019 Global Automotive Color Popularity Report. Axalta, which produces paints and coatings used in the automotive industry, said its survey showed silver lost its place in the top three most-popular colors around the world this year, and now represents just 10% of the market. White, black, gray and silver automobiles make up a total of 80% of vehicles around the world, according to the survey, with white remaining on top at 38%, followed by black at 19% and gray with 13%.
