Things are heating up after day four of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) M5 World Championship Knockout Stage on Tuesday (12 December), as two teams have come one step closer towards claiming this year's world championship title.

Indonesia's ONIC Esports and the Philippines' AP.Bren continued their dominant run through the tournament by defeating Deus Vult and Geek Fam, respectively, and are now set to clash in the upper bracket finals. As a result, both Deus Vult and Geek Fam have dropped to the lower bracket.

Here’s how day four of the M5 World Championship Knockout Stage went:

ONIC Esports 3-0 Deus Vult

Following their hard-fought 3-2 victory over Blacklist International in the upper bracket quarterfinals, Indonesian powerhouse ONIC Esports continued cruising with a sound 3-0 sweep over Russia's Deus Vult.

ONIC kicked off the series by taking game one in just under 19 minutes. They then continued their momentum in the second game with a convincing 17-minute win. And without allowing Deus Vult any room to breathe, ONIC closed out the series in a clean sweep after a lengthy 21-minute encounter.

ONIC's Filipino jungler, Kairi "Kairi" Rayosdelsol, and Indonesian gold laner, Calvin "CW" Winata, were instrumental in the team's dominant romp over Deus Vult. Kairi took the game MVP honours for games one and two while CW got the nod for game three.

AP.Bren 3-1 Geek Fam

Filipino juggernauts AP.Bren have also been on a dominant streak since the start of the tournament. The team continued building on their perfect 6-0 run through the Group Stage by winning against Cambodia's See You Soon, 3-1, at the upper bracket quarterfinals.

Standing in AP.Bren's way was another Indonesian team in Geek Fam ID, adding another chapter in the storied rivalry between the Philippines and Indonesia for MLBB supremacy. This time around, the Filipinos proved themselves superior over their Indonesian opponents in a 3-1 rout.

AP.Bren opened the series with a 22-minute win before Geek Fam tied things up after 19 minutes. However, the Filipino squad bounced back in the pivotal game three and got to match point after a 15-minute encounter.

AP.Bren then closed out the 3-1 series victory with a 16-minute stomp over Geek Fam in game four.

Rowgien "Owgwen" Unigo and Angelo "Pheww" Arcangel were the difference makers of the series, helping AP.Bren to secure their upper bracket finals slot. Owgwen was named the game MVP in games one and four while Pheww took the nod for game three.

With the day’s results, ONIC Esports and AP.Bren have guaranteed at themselves least a third place finish and US$80,000 in winnings. The two most dominant teams of M5 so far will face off in the upper bracket finals on Saturday (16 December) to determine the Grand Finalist.

Meanwhile, Deus Vult and Geek Fam have dropped to the lower bracket, where they will face Blacklist International and See You Soon at the lower bracket quarterfinals.

The M5 World Championship Knockout Stage will follow a double elimination format with all matches being a best-of-five except for the Grand Finals, which will be a full best-of-seven series.

The Knockout Stage will be held in two phases. The first phase will be held in the EMV Convention Center from 9 to 12 December and includes the upper bracket quarterfinals (9 to 10 December), the first round of the lower bracket (11 December), and the upper bracket semifinals (12 December).

It will include the lower bracket quarterfinals (15 December), the lower bracket semifinals and upper bracket finals (16 December), as well as the lower bracket finals and Grand Finals (17 December).
