BOSTON, MA — The Department of Public Health announced 587 new positive COVID-19 cases on Saturday as well as 10 new deaths. This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases in Massachusetts to 135,598 and the total number of deaths to 9,372.
In Saturday's status report, DPH said the healthcare systems are not showing a positive trend, but designated as "in progress." There are currently 531 people hospitalized with COVID-19 with a slight rise in hospitalizations since Thursday, although DPH data shows that most people currently hospitalized are suspected COVID-19 cases and not yet confirmed.
As of Saturday, there were 86 people in the intensive care unit for COVID-19 and 28 people are intubated.
The 7-day weighted average of positive tests in Massachusetts is 1.1 percent, according to the DPH.
There were 15,160 new tests reported Saturday, bringing the total number of tests to 2,395,552.
