All-MAC football teams announced, 8 Ball State players honored

MUNCIE, Ind. — The Mid-American Conference on Wednesday released its All-MAC football teams, which honored eight Ball State University players.

On the First Team, sophomore running back Carson Steele and redshirt freshman tight end Brady Hunt were selected.

Steele led the MAC with 1,556 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns, marks that both rank third in program history and sixth and tied for 11th in the country, respectively. He also caught 29 passes for 166 yards and one score.

Hunt, a Muncie native from Delta High School, led conference tight ends with 46 catches and 498 yards while adding five TDs.

The Second Team featured senior receiver Jayshon Jackson, sophomore offensive lineman Ethan Crowe, junior linebacker Clayton Coll, senior cornerback Amechi Uzodinma II and junior cornerback Nic Jones.

Jackson was the MAC's top pass catcher (74 receptions, eighth in program history) and tallied 829 yards (fourth in the MAC) and three TDs. Coll's 110 total tackles ranked fourth in the conference, and Uzodinma II (three interceptions) and Jones (two interceptions) tied for fourth and seventh, respectively.

Sophomore safety Jordan Riley was the lone Cardinal to make the Third Team. His 12 passes defensed were tied with Jones for third in the MAC, and Riley's 94 total tackles tied for 12th.

Ball State (5-7, 3-5 MAC) had just six players earn All-MAC honors in 2021, two less than this season.
