The MacArthur Causeway has reopened after being shut down for more than an hour by Miami Beach police.

Five people were arrested and officers seized 8 dirt bikes and ATVs, Miami Beach Police said.

“These arrests should serve as a reminder to those considering the reckless and illegal operation of these vehicles; you will be stopped and arrested,” the department said in a statement Sunday.

According to the police reports, some of the drivers were charged with reckless driving, resisting and fleeing a police officer, and leaving the scene of an accident.

Around 7:30 p.m., police tweeted the causeway was closed in both directions due to a police search. At the time, police said they were searching for a subject who was possibly armed.

This is a developing story and will be updated when more information is available.
