Macey Millar wins School for the Blind's Cane Quest gold medal

MULDROW — Muldrow resident Macey Millar earned a gold medal at Oklahoma School for the Blind's eleventh Oklahoma Regional Cane Quest competition in Muskogee.

Millar, an Oklahoma School for the Blind eighth-grader, earned points and prizes in a fast-paced contest with 32 other cane users from across the state.

Millar's award in the Explorers category included competitors in grades 6 through 9.

Cane Quest is a national program of the Braille Institute of America, based in Los Angeles, California.

Explorer and Trailblazer competitors successfully completed five types of street crossing and demonstrated more advanced cane skills along a route in downtown Muskogee.
