Actor Danny Trejo will speak at the Albert H. Soliz Library in El Rio on Thursday to share his story of drug addiction and recovery.

The free event begins at 6:30 p.m. Because the motivational talk is directed toward teens and adults, library staff ask that children not attend.

Trejo is known for his roles in movies including "Machete," "Heat" and "Desperado," as well as numerous television shows including "Sons of Anarchy" and "Breaking Bad."

The prolific actor will also sign copies of his biography, “Trejo: My Life of Crime, Redemption, and Hollywood.” In it, Trejo describes his incarceration in Soledad and San Quentin state prisons, his road to sobriety and growing up in a Mexican-American household.

Yvonne Becerra, library branch manager, said the facility can accommodate about 60 people, adding she’d like to see members of the unincorporated El Rio community in attendance.

The library is located at 2820 Jourdan St., northeast of Oxnard.

Brian J. Varela covers Oxnard, Port Hueneme and Camarillo. He can be reached at brian.varela@vcstar.com or 805-477-8014. You can also find him on Twitter @BrianVarela805.
