Which Macomb restaurants are open on Thanksgiving?
MACOMB — Two downtown restaurants known for "comfort food" will be open Thanksgiving Day. All other restaurants contacted say they will be closed Thursday, but will be open to serve Black Friday crowds.
Cathy's Cafe, 118 South Lafayette Street, will be open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. In addition to the regular Mexican and American menu, Cathy's will feature a turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, and pie for dessert.
Chubby's Restaurant, next door at 2 West Side Square, will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. The restaurant is taking reservations and carry out is available by pre-order.
Chubby's will feature carved turkey or glazed ham, with two side dishes and pie for dessert. Children's portions will also be available.
Free Thanksgiving dinners will be provided from noon to 2 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles on Deer Road. It's the 36th year of the dinners, which are available by carryout and in the club's dining room. Specific time reservations should be called in to the Eagles at 309-833-5111.
