MACOMB — The Macomb Little League 8-10 All-Stars battled through to take the Illinois Little League District 17 Championship.

After a tough loss to Brown County 14-5 in their first game on July 2 in Beardstown, the Macomb 8-10 All-Stars roared back to best Tri-County 10-0 on July 3 and Beardstown 12-2 on July 4, earning them a spot in the District Championship game against the undefeated Brown County July 5.

Macomb’s momentum could not be stopped and they defeated Brown County 12-2, forcing the double elimination Championship game 2. After a 3 day rain delay the championship game took place July 9 in Beardstown. The game was tied heading in to the 6th and final inning. Spectacular defensive play from Macomb kept the game tied and in the bottom of the 6th Macomb bats fired up to take the game with a final score of 5-4.

As the Illinois Little League District 17 Champion, Macomb will move on to Sub-state in Salem, Illinois on Saturday, July 16, with their first game at 11am. The top two teams will advance to the State Championship in Elgin Illinois July 23-26.
