Macomb All-Stars going to State Championship

MACOMB — The Macomb Little League 8-10 All Stars secured their spot in the State Championship by going undefeated in the Salem, Illinois Sub-State tournament.

Saturday, July 16 saw Macomb defeat the Champaign East All-Stars 18-1 throwing a no-hitter with 13 hits and no errors committed in the 4-inning outing. Macomb's second game of the day was against the Olney All-Stars. With the game tied through two innings Macomb pulled away to secure the win with five runs in the third inning and seven in the fifth, tallying 11 hits and no errors in the win.

With their Sub-State Championship, Macomb moves on to the Little League Illinois State Championship tournament July 23-26 in Elgin, Illinois. There are 8 teams remaining to compete for the state title: Champaign-East, Elmhurst, Freeport, Hinsdale, Macomb, Peru, Ridge Beverly and Western Springs. Macomb takes on Freeport, Saturday at 10 a.m., Hinsdale, Saturday at 4 p.m. and Beverly Ridge Sunday at 2 p.m. At the end of play Sunday, 4 teams will advance to the semi-finals which take place Monday, July 25.
