Macoupin County sheriff deputy stable after being airlifted from scene of car crash

A deputy from the Macoupin County Sheriff’s Office was reported to be in stable condition after being airlifted from the scene of a car accident early Saturday morning, according to authorities.

Deputy Nate Albracht had been responding to an emergency call in Girard before the accident.

He was driving east on Emmerson Airline around 5:30 a.m. when his car left the road and struck a tree, Chief Deputy Quinn Reiher said in a statement.

Albracht was taken to St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, according to Reiher.
