Mac's Room to perform free concert at Fowler House Lawn

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A free concert featuring Mac's Room will be held at Fowler House Lawn 7 p.m. Friday, at 909 South St.

Mac's Room features members Dave Henry, Scott Royer, Jacob McIntyre and Lora-Marie Hébert on a wide range of instruments. Rock, jazz, blues, folk and bluegrass music will be performed on a variety of instruments, such as the drums, ukulele, guitar, harmonica, fiddle, mandolin, tin whistle and more.

"The members of Mac’s Room are teachers who live vicariously through the songs they perform," a release from the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette said. "Dave can skillfully beat the rhythm to any genre and as the senior member, his gravelly voice lends itself perfectly to covering Levon Helm, John Prine and Steve Earle. As rapid-fire riffs explode and slow & sweet melodies ooze effortlessly from Jacob's guitar, you'd think he started as a boy, yet impressively he did not begin playing until 23 years old.

"Scott is a walking encyclopedia of lyrics, band members, and band configurations of multiple genres, namely folk, blues and rock and roll. Lora is a fish out of water with a background in bluegrass, Cajun, and traditional French-Canadian and Irish music. She is often clueless as to what chord or note is actually being played, and is very grateful for the grace shown to her by her extremely talented fellow band members."

Friday's event is free but RSVPs are requested so appropriate seating can be arranged beforehand. Guests can register here.
