Macy’s Closings: Capital City Mall addresses location’s future

CAMP HILL, Pa. (WHTM) — Macy’s recently announced that they will be closing several locations amid declining sales; so what will happen to their location at the Capital City Mall?

The Associated Press reported earlier Tuesday that Macy’s would be closing 150 of its store locations over the next three years following a fourth-quarter loss and declining sales.

Of those 150 stores, Macy’s said that 50 will be closing by the end of 2024.

“We are making the necessary moves to reinvigorate relationships with our customers through improved shopping experiences, relevant assortments and compelling value,” said Macy’s CEO Tony Spring, former CEO of Bloomingdale’s who succeeded Jeff Gennette earlier this month.

One well-known Midstate Macy’s store can be found at the Capital City Mall, located at 3506 Capital City Mall Drive in Camp Hill. According to a spokesperson with the Capital City Mall, their Macy’s store was recently notified that it would not be one of the stores that are closing.

abc27 News has reached out to Macy’s to see if any Pennsylvania stores are included in the upcoming closures, but did not hear back at the time of this publication.

According to Macy’s website, they currently have 22 stores scattered throughout Pennsylvania.
