Mad Bets: Will the Chiefs cover -13.5 vs. Broncos?

Matt Gothard & Jared Quay give their picks for the Broncos-Chiefs game on Sunday Night.

Video Transcript

MATT GOTHARD: Welcome back to Mad Bets, everybody. Week 13, Sunday Night Football this week is between the Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Denver Broncos. Kansas City laying 13 and 1/2 at home. Jared, what do you like in this game? Is there any hope for the Broncos after last week?

JARED QUAY: I love the Chiefs, I think Chiefs are amazing offense, the defense is underrated, their coaching is amazing, they're playing at home. But I'm still taking the Denver Broncos here. This is a divisional game and kind of a rivalry. I grew up in Denver. Arrowhead is a fun place to play.

But I do know that the Denver Broncos have a good pass defense, and they get their quarterbacks here, and I just feel like Andy Reid's not going to try to run the score up, because they got a lot more season to play. Don't want to risk your guys getting injured. And the weather looks like it's going to be kind of bad, so I could see them running out the second half. I do think 14 points is too much for a divisional game. Give me the Broncos, I think they lose by maybe seven?

MATT GOTHARD: Yeah, I feel like if you get this at 14, all of a sudden, that number becomes pretty enticing. It's tough to really know what to bet on in this game. Like, the Chiefs, like you said, are a great team. Do you would really want to take away two touchdowns from, after last week, we saw that meltdown, and actually they didn't end up covering the 3 and 1/2? That was really painful for anybody with the Chiefs.

But this game to me, seems like I'm on the same page as you. Like, maybe a first half moneyline play for the Broncos. Like, their season's over, this is kind of their Super Bowl. So they're coming back there a little bit angry after having to play last week. I could see them coming out with a little bit of fire, weather could be bad. I kind of like the value in the first half moneyline.

JARED QUAY: Drew Lock's sneaky. He's kind of player to come out there and pull a win out. You know, he's just, he's a sneaky guy. You know, he might come out there and duel with Pat Mahomes.

MATT GOTHARD: Yeah, and I'm not saying, obviously, this is not like a max bet situation. I think, if you're going to max bet any game this week, it definitely shouldn't be Sunday Night Football. But it could be worth a little bit of a sprinkle on the first half there. But I guess we'll see what happens.

JARED QUAY: You're not doing any banger on this one? You're not all in?

MATT GOTHARD: Not all in, Jared. Not all in.

JARED QUAY: Sunday night, once you've had a really good early morning, and then it's like late, and you're like, man, you know what? Let me throw some big money on this, because I had a good week.

MATT GOTHARD: Well, then we'll reconsider come Sunday night.
