Made with love: Four Spartanburg businesses with Valentine's Day treats to try

Valentine's Day is for lovers — and lovers of sweet treats. Local bakeshops have prepared loads of tasty desserts for the holiday on Tuesday.

Miniature cakes, cake-stuffed cookies, and chocolate-dipped everything are on the menu. So no matter when you're celebrating, there will be a classic or unique treat nearby.

Here are four made-with-love treats to try this Tuesday:

The new Nothing Bundt Cakes location at Hillcrest Shopping Center (1915 E. Main St.) has a cute miniature option for Valentine's Day parties. The cake shop is offering bite-sized bundt cakes, called "bundtinis" in store, with conversation heart toppers for $32.50 per dozen.

The mini bundt cakes are available in 11 flavors, including red velvet, chocolate chocolate chip, white chocolate raspberry, lemon, strawberries & cream and vanilla.

"The red velvet, strawberry and chocolate are probably going to be our number one sellers during the holiday week," said Brian Murrill, owner of Nothing Bundt Cakes.

Full-sized 8-inch or 10-inch bundts with silk flowers (starting at $38 and $48) and bundlets with fun toppers (starting at $5.50) are also available along with a variety of Valentine's Day gifts like bears and balloons and party plates.

More sweet treats: For a special twist on your bundtlets, the shop's individual-sized bundts, create a bundt tower by stacking two or three bundtlets of choice and adding a gift item like a mug. Murrill suggests calling ahead at 864-658-4520 for custom-packaged items to shorten your wait time.

Want to offer your sweetheart a more unique take on the box of chocolates? Consider Caroline's Cakes' (925 Beaumont Ave.) strawberry cream hearts — layered, heart-shaped chocolate cake bites topped with strawberry cream and dipped in white chocolate ($25 per dozen).

"Valentine's Day is something you're celebrating with one other individual, as opposed to like a big group like a birthday party; so, for us, we're thinking smaller items," owner Richard Reutter said. "We're thinking the individual cake slices, individual cupcakes, so we are kind of paring it down. That's why items like our cake bites are such a unique offering."

The bakery is also offering Valentine's Day sprinkle cupcakes, chocolate and yellow cupcakes frosted with raspberry buttercream, and plenty of individual seven-layer cake slices and cupcakes with the shop's signature caramel frosting.

Planning a Valentine's Day picnic to take advantage of the warm weather? Sugah Cakes (551 E. Main St.) has a travel-ready dessert in its dessert charcuterie box. The $35 box offers a sweet assortment of snacks including chocolate-covered strawberries, chocolate-covered pretzel rods, brownie bites, Cupid's Crunch snack mix, chocolate-dipped Oreos and candies.

The dessert charcuterie boxes are available in red or pink boxes that are gift ready. Owner Melissa Bearden suggested gifting the box with a couple of miniature bottles of champagne.

"It'd be a super cute little date night or date afternoon," Bearden said.

The bakery is also offering buckets of chocolate chip cookies, buckets of Cupid's Crunch, chocolate-covered pretzel rods, chocolate-covered strawberries, red velvet cake cups and more through the holiday. However, if you're wanting to try a specific treat, Bearden recommends getting there when they open (9:30 a.m.) or calling ahead at 864-541-8600.

These Valentine's Day cookies are sure to put a smile on your sweetheart's face. Good Mood Treats in Cartwright Food Hall (215 Trade St., Greer) has two Valentine's Day cookie specials: a Pink Moscato Cookie and a stuffed Red Velvet Cookie.

Owner Jovan Benjamin makes each cookie with one of her signature cakes in the middle; in these cases, her strawberry Moscato cupcake and her red velvet cake, based on her grandmother's recipe.

"A lot of my recipes are from my grandmother. She taught me how to bake the traditional red velvet cake, and that's what I decided to stick into my red velvet cookie," Benjamin said. "I drizzle that with cream cheese icing and sprinkle more red velvet crumbs on top. It's definitely a lover's favorite."

Benjamin is also offering Valentine's Day mini cakes, heart-shaped cookie cakes, turtle pecan brownies, and cookie bars. Treats start around $4 each, and the business is open Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from noon-7 p.m. Good Mood Treats will also be open on Valentine's Day from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. for the food hall's Valentine's Day event Passport to Love.
