Madelaine Petsch on Her Getting Ready Routine With "Riverdale" Co-Star Camila Mendes

With the fourth season of Riverdale set to premiere on October 9, we’re eagerly awaiting what small-town adventures our beloved crew will get up to next. But our favorite aspect of the show is arguably the IRL friendships (and relationships!) among its cast. From Charmila to SprouseHart, the bonds formed on the Riverdale set are goals, and Madelaine Petsch and Camila Mendes are giving us a master class in true BFF behavior.

Speaking to InStyle, Madelaine revealed that she and Cami have a super-sweet getting-ready routine that frequently involves the duo shopping from one another’s closet: “If we're going out, she'll come over and help me pick out an outfit, and I'll also go to her house and pick out an outfit...I'll get ready and then I'll go sit and watch her do her makeup. It's a little thing we do — it's cute.” Praising Cami’s off-camera style, Madelaine went on to say, “She has such an effortless fashion, and I really like it. She's got good taste.” We can’t help but agree!

We love an inspirational BFF moment, and live for the pair’s coordinating ‘fits — not to mention their weekend charades tournaments. However, even the tightest of friendships have to have boundaries — case in point, Cami’s favorite blue and white embroidered Red Valentino sweater, which Madelaine lusted after, but ultimately decided against purchasing herself.

Lamenting the situation, Madelaine told InStyle: "I wanted to get it so bad. I was at the store and I saw it, but I never got it because I was like, ‘She's got it, can't do it, it's her favorite sweater.’ You can't buy your best friend’s favorite sweater. That's messed up. Then it's like, ‘Okay, I'm really stealing your favorite thing.’ But I can borrow it.” Sacrificing your own sartorial desires in the name of keeping your BFF happy? If that’s not true friendship, we don’t know what is.

The two stars have previously spoken publicly about their friendship — not just with each other, but the cast as a whole. During a Beautycon 2018 panel, Madelaine described her female co-stars as being extremely supportive, with Camila remarking that the relationships run deeper than fans know. “It's interesting when your friendships are publicized, and everyone knows you're friends,” she said at the time, per Vogue Australia. “I feel like there's so much even you guys don't see, that happens behind the scenes and things that we go through together that we speak about together in our trailers and we've all seen each other at our best and our worst. That really bonds you and it makes you create better.”
