Madeline Else reaches career milestone, as DWU sweeps Presentation

Oct. 5—ABERDEEN — Dakota Wesleyan's Madeline Else cleared 3,000 career assists as part of a strong start that carried the No. 15-ranke Tigers to a road sweep over in-state foe Presentation College on Tuesday night in college volleyball action. Set scores were 25-17, 25-20 and 25-23.

Else had 43 assists in the match, becoming the sixth Tiger setter to log at least 3,000 assists in her career. (Betsy Bartels, who played from 1990 to 1994, has the school record at 6,220 assists.) The senior from Holstein, Iowa is the nation's leader in assists per set at 11.77.

DWU opened the night with a .441 hitting effort in the first set, with two errors and 17 kills on 34 swings, and finished hitting .273 for the night. For the match, Ady Dwight had 16 kills and three blocks and Mariah Gloe had 14 kills and 12 digs. Tya Weideman had a match-high 17 digs for the Tigers, while Emily Dale had a hand in five total blocks.

Presentation's Grace Tobin had 11 kills, while Makynna Snow had seven kills. Laura Babcock had three aces and 13 digs, with both as team-highs for the Saints.

DWU (14-4) returns to conference play with an important weekend series of matches at the Christen Family Athletic Center. It starts Friday when the Tigers host No. 3 Midland, followed by a 3 p.m. match Saturday against No. 6 Concordia (Neb.)
