Madison Beer has been a household name for years. I mean, she went viral at 13 after Justin Bieber shared a video of her singing covers on YouTube. Since then, she's managed to become one of social media's biggest stars. Her journey to superstardom and notoriety has been filled with challenges that helped propel her into a singing, songwriting entrepreneur.

A native of Jericho, New York, Madison's career first took off when Justin Bieber reposted a video of her singing Etta James's classic song, "At Last," to his millions of Twitter followers in 2012. A shoutout from The Biebs landed Madison a record deal with Island Records and a management deal with Scooter Braun.

Not only was Madison on her way to becoming one of music’s most promising rising stars, but she also landed a small acting role in the film Louder Than Words in 2013. Her music career continued to thrive after she dropped the debut single, "Melodies" later that year. She followed up with "Unbreakable" in 2014.

But then, Madison's record label dropped her due to creative differences right before the release of her debut album. She fought back against requests to stick to the pop genre, as she was inspired to sing more soulful music like Etta James and Lauryn Hill.

She opened up about her struggles to create the music of her dreams during an interview with Rolling Stone in 2020. "I was always told, 'Well, one day when you’re older, you’ll be able to make that stuff,'" she said. “But then I realized that I don’t need to be older to do it."

"I felt like I had failed," she continued. "Especially at 16 years old, obviously it feels like everything is the end of the world, so it just felt like everyone had given up on me. It really hurt and discouraged me in a lot of ways."

She didn't give up, though. Madison continued to persevere and reinvigorated her music career after signing with Epic Records in 2019.

Madison earned a new peak on the Billboard Emerging Artists chart listing at number 13 after dropping her debut album, Life Support, in February 2021. She later announced a follow-up tour and created accompanying merch based on the album's song titles.

In September 2020, she teamed up with Morphe to create her Channel Surfing beauty collection. From brush sets to eyeshadow palettes and lip glosses, Channel Surfing became a one-stop-shop for Madison's fans and their beauty needs. "I wanted to make sure that I could make something that I could actually genuinely use, and it [included] color tones that I wanted. I was just really involved in the entirety of the process," she explained during an interview with Pop Sugar.

"My goal, I would, say is just that [my fans] can create the entire look with just this collection because I know how it feels to carry around a 50-pound bag of makeup when you travel, or just like in general, and I want this to be a simple thing that they can use and get it done," Madison shared.

Known for style and sleek fashion sense, Madison collabed with Boohoo for a chic '90's inspired collection in August 2021. "I love boohoo's style range - they offer everything from cute sweats to the perfect going out looks," she said to E! News. "My style differs so much day-to-day, but they have everything I gravitate towards."

Sharing inspo for the fashion line, Madison added, "I really love more muted tones like nudes and pastels, so I knew I wanted to incorporate those in some way. I also wanted everyone to be able to find a style they liked, so it was important to me to offer a wide range of pieces so anyone could experience the collection."

Juggling so many different hats is hard work, but it’s paid off big time for Madison. According to Celebrity Net Worth, she is worth $16 million. Per Variety, Madison purchased a newly-built modern farmhouse mansion in Encino, California, for $5.6 million in 2020.

If Madison's appearance at the 2021 MTV VMAs is any indication, she's got a long career ahead of her and plenty more bags to secure.
