Madison Schools plans to raffle off donated 2022 Chevrolet Equinox

Aug. 24—Madison School District is shifting into high gear to raffle off a car that was donated by a local dealership.

The School Board recently accepted the donation of a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox from Classic Chevrolet, Buick and GMC in Madison Township. This vehicle will be raffled off to raise funds for improvements to the district's athletic complex.

"We're very, very excited," said Madison Schools Superintendent Angela Smith, regarding plans for the major fundraiser. "Our goal would be hopefully to have all tickets sold by our December board meeting and right around the holidays, do that raffle."

The 2022 Chevrolet Equinox LT is an all-wheel drive sport-utility vehicle valued at about $27,047.

Smith said the donation of the car stemmed from an initial inquiry that the district received from Classic Auto Group. About two weeks ago, a representative approached Madison High School Principal Tom Brady and asked what the business could do to help the district.

"They wanted to be involved in the community and had some resources to donate," Smith said, during the Aug. 16 Madison School Board meeting.

Rachel Oettinger, marketing director for Classic Auto Group, coordinated efforts with Classic Chevrolet, Buick and GMC in Madison Township and Chevy Network Dealers to donate the 2022 Equinox for the raffle.

Smith said the district hopes to have the vehicle on display at the high school's next two home football games — versus Lakeside, on Aug. 26; and Perry, on Sept. 2.

The district also is exploring various options on how and where people will be able to buy tickets.

"We'll be selling tickets at $10 each," Smith said. "We hope to sell $100,000 worth of tickets, so that's 10,000 tickets."
