Madison Schools raffling off 2022 Chevy Equinox

Sep. 1—Raffle tickets have gone on sale for a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox being given away by Madison Schools.

"Tickets will be sold both virtually and in person," Madison Schools Superintendent Angela Smith said.

Madison Schools launched the raffle after receiving the donation of 2022 Chevrolet Equinox LT from Classic Chevrolet East in Madison Township and Chevy Network Dealers. The all-wheel drive sport-utility vehicle is valued at about $27,047.

The raffle has been assigned the formal title of The Chevy Network Dealers, Classic Chevy Madison and Madison Local Schools Athletics Winning Streaks Sweepstakes. Tickets are $10 each and all proceeds will be used to improve the district's athletic complex.

"We are currently prioritizing a list of projects based on the amount of money we are able to raise," Smith said.

Raffle tickets can be purchased online by going to the Madison Schools Good News Facebook page and finding the post in which Smith addresses the community about the sweepstakes. Below the post is an online flyer, and it contains a quick-response code that can be scanned with a smartphone to buy raffle tickets.

In-person tickets sales will be conducted at select home athletic events, Smith said. The 2022 Equinox itself will be on display at the Madison High School Blue Streaks football game Sept. 2 vs. Perry.

The goal is to sell 10,000 tickets to raise $100,000, Smith said. The drawing to choose the car's new owner will take place at halftime of the boys basketball game on Dec. 13.

"This is a true community event," Smith said. "We are grateful for the support that Classic Chevrolet East and Chevy Network Dealers have given us with this donation to help improve our facilities."

Smith said the donation of the car stemmed from an initial inquiry that the district received from Classic Auto Group. In early August, a representative approached Madison High School Principal Tom Brady and asked what the business could do to help the district.

"They wanted to be involved in the community and had some resources to donate," Smith said, during the Aug. 16 Madison School Board meeting.

Rachel Oettinger, marketing director for Classic Auto Group, coordinated efforts with Classic Chevrolet East and Chevy Network Dealers to contribute the 2022 Equinox for the raffle.
