Madison Village sets Oct. 29 as date for second annual Boo Brew Crawl

Oct. 1—Adults looking for Halloween-style fun can find it in late October during a special event in Madison Village.

The second annual Boo Brew Crawl will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 29. Four eating and drinking establishments in the village will be involved in the celebration:

—Cornerstone Brewing Co., at 70 W. Main St.

—Duffy's Tavern, 60 W. Main

—528 Tavern, 111 N. Lake St.

—Wild Burrito Mexican Taste and Margarita Bar, 125 N. Lake St.

Tickets for the Boo Brew Crawl cost $25 and are on sale at all participating businesses and Madison Village Hall, located at 33 E. Main St. Only 200 tickets will be sold for the event.

Each ticket holder receives an official 2022 Boo Brew lanyard; an ID card for specials and discounts at participating bars; a small portable cooler; a can cooler; and a shot glass.

On the day of the crawl, guests can claim their Boo Brew promotional items by presenting their tickets at the bandstand in Village Park, located at West Main and River streets, between 4 and 6 p.m.

A flier for the event also urges ticket buyers to visit all four bars during the celebration for a chance to win the following prizes:

—1st place: Local wine basket

—2nd and 3rd place: Premium mini-bar basket

—4th and 5th place: Witches Brew Wine

—6th and 7th place: Fat Head's Spooky Tooth Imperial Pumpkin Ale

All four businesses involved in this year's Boo Brew Crawl are part of the village's Downtown Outdoor Refreshment Area, or DORA, which was established last year.

The DORA encompasses the village Park and Square; West Main Street, between River Street and East Main Street; and North Lake Street from its southernmost point to the railroad tracks.

Within this designated area, licensed liquor establishments which were authorized to join the DORA are permitted to sell alcohol in specially marked cups. Patrons are permitted to take those cups outside of the establishments in the specified zone during a set time.

The annual Boo Brew Crawl is presented by the Madison Community Improvement Corporation. Proceeds from the event will help fund the 2023 Concerts in the Park Series, which is sponsored by MCIC; and be donated to other local charities.

The first-ever Boo Brew Crawl in 2021 raised a little more than $1,000, which was shared by MCIC and the Madison Food Center.

Madison Village Administrator Dwayne Bailey described last year's crawl as "a huge success."

"I think everybody had a great time, a safe time," he said.
