Everyone has a favorite decade for fashion, but only a few dare to emulate the look of a bygone era from head to toe. For Rocco Ritchie, the stylish son of Madonna and director Guy Ritchie, menswear from the ’30s and ’40s has proved irresistible. Once a dedicated streetwear aficionado with an extensive collection of sneakers and hoodies, the 19-year-old star has been slowly trading his Supreme gear for a series of impeccably tailored three-piece suits. And at last night’s premiere of his father’s latest film, The Gentleman, Ritchie certainly dressed the part, arriving at London’s Curzon Mayfair cinema in a sharp pinstripe suit and coordinating fedora. A dapper addition to an evening attended by stars like Hugh Grant, Michelle Dockery, and Sting, Richie stood out with his commitment to a classic style.

All teenagers go through fashion phases, but Richie’s foray into vintage-inspired menswear has proven especially interesting—while his contemporaries are still queuing up for limited-edition sneakers, by looking to the past, Richie has forged his own distinct sartorial path. The move has proved timely, echoing the strides made by performers like Harry Styles, who has also done much to revive the high-waisted, wide-leg pants silhouette of the ’30s and ’40s. Richie might be doing his bit to help usher in this retro menswear revival, but whether or not the movement hits the mainstream, he’s certainly looking sharp along the way.
