Maggie’s Farm Rum plans expansion with new production facility in Upper St. Clair

Tim Russell had all but given up on finding a small industrial building and had pivoted to considering new construction when a former wig warehouse on McLaughlin Run Road in Upper St. Clair became available.

“This popped up on the market when we weren’t looking,” said Russell, principal of Allegheny Distilling LLC, which has been producing Maggie’s Farm Rum for years out of a 3,000-square-foot industrial space on Smallman Street on a border stretch of the Strip District and Lawrenceville.

What popped up was a 22,000-square-foot industrial property, a two-floor operation in which he’s working to be able to establish a new distilling production facility and retail outlet in the South Hills suburb.

Russell is seeking for Upper St. Clair to allow the use of distilling, among other approvals, to be able to push forward with the new production distillery, expected to also function for retail and restaurant space, municipal approvals pending.
