New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman warned that Donald Trump doesn’t have “control” of the consequences after a Manhattan grand jury indicted him on Thursday.

Haberman, a CNN analyst, pointed out during a discussion on “Anderson Cooper 360,” that Trump’s booking, expected on Tuesday, will be different than for other defendants, as the Secret Service will be involved.

“I think that that is going to be much more jarring for him than I think people realize,” Haberman said. “This is somebody who has spent more than four decades trying to avoid being arrested or being indicted.”

She added: “And so this is a really scary moment for him, despite whatever he says.”

Haberman pointed out that the justice system leaves Trump, who’s a 2024 presidential candidate, unable to control his situation.

“I think this is the first time that I can think of where he can’t control this,” said Haberman as she contrasted the indictment with his first impeachment, his second impeachment and the Mueller investigation.

“He was never going to get indicted as a sitting president and I think that he has an overconfidence in his ability to impact events by intimidation tactics, by pushing out headlines,” she said. “This is now in the hands of whatever judge he draws and what the voters think.”
