Magic finish final game of season with win

In the final game of the season the Lakeland Magic took the fight to the Des Moines Wolves, winning 133-121.

But following a four-way tiebreaker, Lakeland local G League affiliate ended the season in eighth place in the Eastern Conference, missing the playoffs.

Still, guard Jay Scrubb led the Magic with a team-high 24 points off the bench, while guard Xavier Simpson  posted 20 points and 15 assists. Guard Au’Diese Toney and forward Robert Baker II tallied 20 points respectively.

On the Wolves' side, Luka Garza put on a show, showcasing 47 points coupled with 15 boards. And Matt Ryan scored 17 points and had nine assists.

Prolific offense, though, couldn’t stop the Magic’s run in the second quarter, when Lakeland outscored the Wolves 44-29. Scrubb in the quarter racked up 20 points, shooting 8-of-11 from the field. And the Magic bench outscored the Wolves, 62-24.

The final standing for the Lakeland Magic is 18-14 on the 2022-23 season.
