The Orlando Magic gained the services of one inured player Tuesday for their regular-season opener at San Antonio on Wednesday night, but lost two others.

Head coach Jamahl Mosley said after Tuesday’s practice that while rookie guard Jalen Suggs will play against the Spurs, forward Chuma Okeke and guard E’Twaun Moore will be sidelined.

“Jalen, we’re gonna try to sprinkle some minutes in and see how he feels as we continue to go,” Mosley said. “He’s looking better, he’s participated, so we’ll continue to move forward with that.”

Suggs had been out since coming down with a stomach virus before last week’s final preseason game again Boston, but he worked out some over the weekend and practiced both Monday and Tuesday.

“Oh yeah, I’m good now. Just had a little stomach virus, stomach flu,” Suggs said. “I got over it. Took a couple of days. With those kinds of things, you can’t really do much but rest, get fluids in you.

“I’m good now. I feel good. I got to be in the gym the past three days ... ran, got my feet under me, got to shoot. ... Ready to go.”

Okeke missed all of training camp with a hip bone bruise and Moore recently sprained his knee, bumping it in practice, according to Mosley.

While Moore’s injury is relatively new, Okeke’s has been ongoing and it seemed this past weekend that the former Auburn star was possibly on target to play Wednesday.

He was what Magic president of basketball operations Jeff Weltman called “nearly a full participant,” in Saturday’s practice, yet the injury-plagued forward will remain on the bench at San Antonio.

“Now it’s a matter of reconditioning him and making sure that he’s ready when we get him back into NBA game-speed situations,” Weltman said.

The Magic already have been without forward Jonathan Isaac and point guard Markelle Fultz, both rehabilitating from knee ligament tears (ACL), and guard Michael Carter-Williams who is coming back from offseason surgery to remove bone spurs in his ankle.
