Magic’s lottery picks Anthony Black, Jett Howard top Las Vegas summer league roster
The Orlando Magic 2023 summer league roster is headlined by No. 6 draft pick Anthony Black and No. 11 pick Jett Howard, the team announced Thursday.
The pair will be joined by a mixture of mostly other rookies, second-year players and free agents who will play at least five games played in Las Vegas. Tyger Campbell, who started all 133 games he played at UCLA where he’s No. 2 all-time in NCAA tournament assists and led them to a Final Four, went undrafted last week. Kai Sotto went undrafted in 2022 and played in Australia professionally. He’s an intriguing prospect because of his size at 7-3 as he’s trying to become the first Filipino-born player in the NBA.
The No. 32 pick in last year’s draft, Caleb Houstan, and two-way guard Kevon Harris, members of last season’s team, also are scheduled to participate.
All 30 NBA teams will play four games from July 7-14 at the Thomas & Mack Center and the Cox Pavilion located on the campus of UNLV.
The top four teams will advance and participate in the semifinals on July 16 (4 p.m. ET, ESPN; 6, ESPN2). The semifinal winners advance to the championship game the next night (9, ESPN).
The 26 teams that do not advance to the four-team playoff will play a fifth game on either July 15 or 16.
Orlando will be led by Dylan Murphy, who was named head coach of the Osceola Magic, the franchise’s NBA G League affiliate, and summer league coach on Wednesday.
