Mahoning County Junior Fair Board elected its 2023 officers at the group’s April meeting.

Selected were, Kaleigh Williams, president; Landon Frank, vice president; Grace Maltonic, secretary/ treasurer; Abbie Mellott, assistant secretary/treasurer; and Zoey Douglas and Elizabeth Burns, news reporters.

During the meeting, group members discussed their annual food drive at the Canfield Fair.

Guest speaker Mary Fannin, financial officer for Farm Credit Mid-America made suggestions for methods to improve publicity for this year’s trailer food drive. Farm Credit Mid-America sponsors food drives such as these statewide. In 2022, they went to the Food Pantry at Greenford Christian Church.

Junior Fair Board members have volunteered to assist with the Small and Exotic Animal Fun Show on June 3 at the Canfield Fairgrounds Event Center. Registration starts at 9 a.m. Members also signed up to help with goat, swine and lamb tagging at 8 a.m. May 20 at the fairgrounds.

Junior Fair Board will host members of the Senior Fair Board and Mahoning County Livestock Committee at their annual picnic at 5 p.m. June 19 at the Canfield Fairgrounds Event Center.
