Mahwah First Responders To Receive COVID Vaccine At Closed Clinic

MAHWAH, NJ — The Mahwah Health Department will host a closed COVID-19 vaccine clinic for first responders next week, Mayor Jim Wysocki announced Thursday.

Mahwah EMS, fire department and police employees will be eligible to receive their first dose of vaccines.

Wysocki said the township was only allocated 50 doses, which he said would be "distributed equally."

"This is the first step for our community," he added.

On Friday, Wysocki said the township was working with the Northwest Bergen Regional Health Commission, the Board of Health, and the local Health Department to work toward receiving vaccines.

"The truth is, vaccine supply is extremely limited at this time, especially in Bergen County," he said.

If Mahwah receives additional vaccines, Wysocki said the current plan is to open small pods — like the one for first responders — to vaccinate the "most vulnerable population."
