Mail-in ballot applications for March primary due Feb. 23

TYLER, Texas (KETK) – The deadline for applications to have a mail-in ballot is Friday, KETK shares how to secure your ability to vote.

According to Smith County, applications for mail-in ballots must be received, not just postmarked, by the elections offices by 5 p.m. on Friday.

The applications can reportedly be delivered in-person, in Smith County the elections office can be found at 302 E. Ferguson, the elections officials’ addresses for other counties can be found here.

Smith County said that applications can be faxed to 903-590-4778 or emailed to scelections@smith-county.com but the original has to be mailed and delivered within four days to the office. For details regarding other counties, the contact information for other election offices may be found here.

Those eligible for mail-in voting in Texas are as follows:

  • Those aged 65 years and older

  • Disabled individuals

  • Those expected to give birth within three weeks before or after Election Day

  • Those who are out of the country in the period of early voting and election day

  • Those who are confined in jail, or involuntary civil commitment, but otherwise eligible
