On Saturday, July 16, the 2022 Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl Classic football game will be played at Don Roux Field at Lewiston High School.

The game is a final high school football showcase for the best Class of 2022 players in the state, matching East against West.

When and where is the game? How do I get tickets?

Kick off time is set for 4 p.m. in Lewiston, with gates opening at 1 p.m., and pre-game events scheduled for 3:15.

The game, which began in 1990, raises money for Shriners Children’s Hospital, which treats children with orthopedic conditions, burns, or spinal cord injuries, regardless of their family's ability to pay, according to organizers. More than $750,000 has been raised in the game's history.

Advance tickets are $9 for general admission plus a $1 fee and available at maineshrinelobsterbowl.com/game-day/tickets.

There will be plenty of local representation as York, Marshwood, Kennebunk and Wells high schools all have at least one player on Team West.

The Wildcats are sending Hayden Henriksen, Liam Clayton and Will Orso.

“As a program, we’re excited. All three of those players work really hard for us during the season, but they are also players who work really hard in the off-season” York head coach Matt Nelson said. “They’re everything any coach in the state would love to have, just because of their work ethic, and I’m so glad all of their efforts were recognized and get to play in this game.”

Orso, who is an offensive and defensive lineman, said he found out about his selection roughly a month ago, and is honored.

“I was excited about it, because I’ve had teammates play in (Lobster Bowl), and I’ve heard it’s a fun thing to do,” Orso said. “It seems like it’s going to be a really fun experience."

Orso said due to being a wrestler, he knows a few of the other student-athletes and is excited to share the field with them.

“Just being able to talk to, and play with, people that I know around the state, and get to know more people that I could’ve never played with in my normal regular season of football,” Orso added.

Marshwood’s selections are Cam Cornett and Andrew Goodwin, members of the Hawks team that won its fourth straight Class B state championship in 2021.

“I’m glad for both of those guys, they are certainly deserving,” Marshwood head coach Alex Rotsko said. “Cornett was one of the more exciting players in the state, I thought, offensively with returning kicks, catching the ball, running the ball; just an exciting kid to watch. And Goodwin, I thought was our best player on defense, so both those guys are very deserving and I’m glad they get the chance to play in the game.”

Kennebunk’s Matt Moore, Keegan Andrews and David York were selected to play in the game. Wells is represented by Brady Fox.

Team West is coached by Lisbon High School head coach Chris Kates.
