Maine Street Barber Co. to open in Poland
Dec. 21—Starting off the new year with a new look just got a little easier in Poland, with the pending opening of the Maine Street Barber Co. at 1251 Maine St., formerly The Chop Shop.
Co-owner Lauren Veau said there will be a soft opening Christmas Eve, with a formal, grand opening planned for Jan. 3. "It's going to be a modern barbershop with a classic feel," she said Tuesday. "We're going to offer straight razor shaves, haircuts, beard trims. We also will be offering color services and waxing services."
Veau said they'll offer kids cuts and serve men and women. She recommends people book online or call for an appointment, but walk-ins are welcome too. The number is 207-998-9279.
Hours will be from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Brickyard Hollow Brewing Co., the Yarmouth-based chain of craft brewpubs and gourmet pizza, is opening a sixth location Dec. 26 at Flagstaff Landing on Flagstaff Lake in Stratton village in Eustis.
The company said the new location will focus on catering to the events held at Flagstaff Landing, including weddings and corporate retreats, in addition to being a fully functional Brickyard Hollow location with all the usual brews and pizza offerings Mainers have been enjoying for years.
The location is at 310 state Route 27 and is in the heart of snowmobile country and close to Sugarloaf and Saddleback Mountain ski resorts.
Brickyard Hollow has locations in Yarmouth, Freeport, Portland, Ogunquit and Skowhegan.
AUBURN — Saco Bay Orthopedic & Sports Physical Therapy and Saco Bay Kids next door to Otto Pizza at 730 Center St., Suite 6, is expanding and moving within the Auburn Plaza complex next to T.J. Maxx.
The city planning and permitting department has approved a permit for a $900,000 interior renovation for the outpatient clinic and work is underway.
According to a posting on its Facebook page, Saco Bay moved into its location Nov. 23 from 690 Minot Ave.
LEWISTON — It's been brought to our attention that Roak the Florist/Urban Garden Center combo at 793 Main St., which opened in 2021, has closed and the building is for sale. Realtor Marc Fishman said the listing went live about two weeks ago.
In September 2018, five months after his wife died, longtime owner Mike Small announced he was selling the business after 40 years.
The Urban Garden Center owner Gary Howard bought the property and had planned on consolidating his store on Sabattus Street into the new location. The Sabattus Street location remains open. Attempts to reach Howard for more details were unsuccessful.
