Mainland Planning Commission considers surface mining request

Sep. 12—An amendment to a planned development to allow surface mining and mini storage on a 5-acre tract at the Interstate 95/Golden Isles Parkway interchange will be considered at tonight's Glynn County Mainland Planning Commission meeting.

The request by Georgia Land Group, Inc. for the surface mining is to expand a pond at the site. Dump trucks will use existing roads, and the applicant said mining will be short-term.
