Mainz coach Jan Siewert is not thinking about his personal future at the club when they face Union Berlin in a re-arranged Bundesliga match on Wednesday.

Second last Mainz are effectively in a must-win situation because a defeat would see them slip nine points behind Union who are in safe 15th place.

Cologne in third last, which would earn a play-off tie, are four points ahead of Mainz and bottom club Darmstadt who occupy the direct drop places.

Mainz have only one season win from 20 games, which led to Siewert taking the place of Bo Svensson who resigned in autumn.

Siewert said on Tuesday "it would be foolish and irresponsible" to think about his own fate around the match which fell victim to winter weather at its original January slot.

"I have a responsibility to the club, which is to win games," Siewert said. "Even if it's not a nice game, it has to be successful."
