Maisie Williams says even Kit Harington thought the Game of Thrones finale would end differently
Say what you like about Game of Thrones season 8, but you have to admit it was full of twists. And even the stars of the show were shocked at some of them.
Maisie Williams, who played Arya Stark in GoT, was part of one of the more controversial plot lines when her character killed the Night King, despite the story seemingly leading up to Kit Harington's Jon Snow being the one to do it. Fans were pretty shocked at the twist - but it turns out we weren't the only ones.
In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Maisie revealed that it was supposed to be Jon Snow who did the deed. She revealed that co-star Kit Harington told her: “It was going to go that way. Someone told me in season three that I was going to kill The Night King.”
“Then,” she added, “He read the script, and it was Arya the whole time.”
Asked why she thinks producers ultimately chose to turn the storyline on its head, Maisie said: “I think it would’ve been too obvious [had Jon Snow killed the Night King].
“I’m glad that it was Arya, honestly. I think I had the best storyline of the final season.”
Tell that to Jon Snow, Maisie.
