CHILLICOTHE— The Majestic Theatre in Chillicothe recently announced that current president Paul Pollard would be stepping down from his position. His decision stems from wanting to focus more on his family.

Pollard has held the title of president at the theatre for almost a decade, in this time he has helped the theatre attain financial stability, construct new additions and install a professional streaming and recording system. He also oversaw fundraising that will provide air conditioning to the theatre and overall improved the facility and its courtyard.

“The Board of Directors would like to thank Paul for his dedication to the theatre and the progress that was made during his time on the board," said a statement released by the theatre's Board of Directors. "The Board looks forward to collaborating with him in future endeavors.”

Pollard said he wanted to spend more time with his wife and their one-year-old daughter as his reason for taking a step back.

"I just want to be there more," said Pollard of his family.

The board does have a succession plan in place. Following this plan Vice President Gene Hoyet will be stepping into the presidential position. Hoyet is a long-term board member who has served the theatre for over 20 years. David Blosser, another long-term member of the Board of Directors, will move from an at-large position to vice president. Melody Young will continue service in the role of treasurer along with Gene Betts as secretary on the Board of Directors.

This continuity of leadership will ensure that the Majestic Theatre maintains stability and momentum toward achieving its long-term goals. With many of the same members on the team Pollard says that the theatre is "in super great hands". He believes the theatre will continue to flourish under the guidance of the dedicated board members and volunteers.
