Major bombing at Kandahar mosque

At least 35 people have been killed after an explosion tore through a Shi'ite mosque in Afghanistan Friday (October 15).

The attack happened in the southern city of Kandahar.

it is the second week in a row that militants have bombed Friday prayers and killed worshippers from the minority sect.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but Islamic State claimed a similar bombing last week.

The attacks have caused shock among Afghanistan's Shi'ite minority.

It has also undermined the ruling Taliban's claim to have restored security since taking control in August.

A health official told Reuters that scores were wounded.

A local reporter also said an eyewitness described three suicide attackers, with one blowing himself up at the mosque entrance and two more inside the building
