Abilene police said traffic citations for unsafe speed and no insurance were issued in a major crash Tuesday afternoon at Loop 322 and State Highway 36.
A Tacoma pickup that was traveling north on Loop 322 lost control, slid off the pavement and hit a Nissan Rogue in the southbound lane, a police spokesman said in a Wednesday update.
The truck doors opened and the two occupants fell out of the truck, police said.
The truck occupants and one in the Nissan were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Road conditions, following a light rain earlier in the day, and speed likely were factors in the collision, the spokesman said.
An earlier report Tuesday indicated four people were transported to the hospital.
Four people were injured in a three-vehicle crash at State Highway 36 and Loop 322 mid-afternoon Tuesday.
Traffic on SH 36 was being diverted as Abilene firefighters, paramedics and police officers responded to the scene at about 3:17 p.m.
According to scanner traffic, one person was trapped in a vehicle. First responders on the scene requested three ambulances.
A total of four people were transported to a hospital.
Reporter-News photojournalist Ronald Erdrich at the scene reported a large debris field, including an axle with tire attached about 30 yards from its pickup. A northbound vehicle is believed to have crossed the median and struck two vehicles in the southbound lane.
While first responders continued to assist victims at the scene, at least one minor crash occurred when a vehicle rear-ended another vehicle.
