Santa Monica's Third Street Promenade reopens after major gas leak
Santa Monica's Third Street Promenade reopened Monday night after a major gas leak prompted evacuations.
The Santa Monica Fire Department sent an alert about the leak via Twitter at 4:29 p.m.
Police were on scene assisting with evacuations in the 200 block of Santa Monica Boulevard, as well as the 1300 and 1400 blocks of the Promenade, firefighters said.

Hazardous materials teams were on scene, firefighters said. No injuries were reported.
The Fire Department reported at 8:15 p.m. that the leak was repaired.
Gas service was being restored to the area, streets were reopened, and the area was declared safe for residents and businesses, firefighters said.
